2002 begun with us knowing we still had little means of trying to support ourselves in any way; such as becoming more self sufficient at least. Bro. Louis had plans of course, but because we are so very low profile as far as the high profile Charities are concerned, we believed that we would be left at the bottom of the pile of requests for funding heap. Then, almost half way through the year, SOMETHING HAPPENED !! While searching on the Internet for a place for a small handicapped Indian boy to live, In His Footsteps (a very small Registered Irish Charity) found a report, that people who had given us a one time grant (& had also visited us), had put there. It turned out that the little boy could not be transferred in the end, but In His Footsteps decided to take a closer look at US! They contacted Bro. Louis and then began sending us donations! With these 1st funds we bought all our school needs for the new term. Slates, registers, pens, pencils and paper! The next donations bought us ALL mosquito nets! IHF then funded the deepening of our well which turned out to be a God Incident indeed! A terrible drought arrived just after the project was completed and if the well had not been deepened our Goats, Water Buffalo and crops would all have perished! With Bro. Louis's blessing another project was then undertaken that funded, one by one, the purchase of 11 industrial sewing machines. This was the main project that we had wanted to implement which would eventually render us partially self-sufficient for our future. The funds included a Master Tailor to instruct us, a stipend for those who qualified and all the equipment to get us started including fabrics, loads of needles, pairs of scissors, threads etc.. and a grand Almirah (cupboard) to keep the equipment in!
